1. The five recognized Nuclear Powers (United States, Russia, China, Britain and France) signed a treaty to create a ‘nuclear free zone’ in 5 central Asian countries namely Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
2. Historian and political scientist Luis Guillermo Solis has been sworn in as 47th President of Costa Rica.
3. Ronnie O’Sullivan has been crowned World Snooker Player of the Year. The five-time world snooker champion was recently stunned by Mark Selby at the Dafabet World Championship.
4. Nation to observe National Technology Day 2014 on May 11. It marks multiple technological breakthrough achieved on the day like Pokhran nuclear tests in 1998, test-flight of our first indigenous aircraft “Hansa-3″ and successful test firing of the Trishul missile.

5. Two Indian-Americans Manjusha P Kulkarni and Ranjana Paintal are to be honoured with ‘Champions of Change’ by the White House.
