1) लगातार बढ़ते हुए चालू खाते के घाटे (current account deficit) को देखते हुए भारत एक ऐसे देश से कच्चे तेल का आयात बढ़ाने पर विचार कर रहा है जो डालर के बजाय रुपए में भुगतान को स्वीकार करता है। यह देश कौन सा है? – ईरान (पेट्रोलियम व प्राकृतिक गैस मंत्रालय ने हाल ही में एक प्रस्ताव प्रधानमंत्री को स्वीकृति के लिए भेजा है, जिसमें कहा गया है कि भारत को ईरान से कच्चा तेल आयात करने पर जोर देना चाहिए। उल्लेखनीय है कि ईरान को उसके परमाणु कार्यक्रम से हतोत्साहित करने के लिए अमेरिका तथा यूरोपीय संघ ने ईरान पर तमाम व्यापारिक प्रतिबन्ध लगा दिए थे। इसके चलते भारत ने ईरान से आयात किए जा रहे कच्चे तेल की मात्रा में वर्ष 2012-13 के दौरान 25.6% की कमी कर दी थी तथा वह 1.81 करोड़ टन के बजाय मात्र 1.31 करोड़ टन कच्चे तेल का आयात करने लगा था। वर्ष 2010-11 में सऊदी अरब के बाद ईरान से भारत सर्वाधिक कच्चा तेल खरीदता था। लेकिन 2012-13 में ईरान से अधिक तेल मंगाने वाले देशों की सूची में सऊदी अरब के अलावा इराक, वेनेजुएला, कुवैत और संयुक्त अरब अमीरात का नाम जुड़ गया)

Ajay Jayaram’s remarkable turnaround in form shaped Hyderabad Hotshots’ 3-1 triumph over Awadhe Warriors in the $1 million inaugural Vodafone-IBL at the National Sports Club of India here on Saturday.

Outplayed by R.M.V. Gurusaidutt in the opening game and for better part of the second, the Chennai-born Jayaram appeared to be suffering a lack of confidence and heading toward a defeat. But trailing 10-15 in the second and hitting smash shots too long or wide, Jayaraman put up a gritty display to win six points in a row to level scores and then clinch the third and deciding game. Jayaraman’s great escape to victory brought a sudden end to the five-match tie even as the mixed doubles pair of both the teams were preparing for the last match. In fact Saina was slated to play the mixed doubles with V. Shem Goh against Markis Kido and Pia Z. Bernadet. Hotshots’ other wins were fashioned by Saina and the doubles pair of V. Shem Goh and Lim Wah Khim.
